RIP NELSON MANDELA
Today is a sad day not only in Africa but in world history, as Nelson Mandela’s passing is announced. But instead of weeping, we celebrate all that his life stood for.
Madiba, from you we learnt that no amount of incarceration can prevent one from changing the course of a nation; that the world only needs individuals who are willing to stand up for what’s right (no matter the cost) and that that forgiveness is always the way forward (despite how justified one’s anger is).
But most importantly, we learnt that to be truly free – is a matter of the heart.
Rest in Peace Madiba. You will forever hold a special place in our hearts. Africa is mightily blessed to have you as a son and a role model. You were and will always be a true reflection of God’s love.
“Lead from the back — and let others believe they are in front.”
“I learnt that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.”
“For one to be free is not merely to cast off one’s chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.”
“Resentment is like drinking poison and then hoping it will kill your enemies.”
“Difficulties break some men but make others. No axe is sharp enough to cut the soul of a sinner who keeps on trying, one armed with the hope that he will rise even in the end.”
“A good head and a good heart are always a formidable combination.”
“Real leaders must be ready to sacrifice all for the freedom of their people.”
“It always seems impossible until it’s done.”
WE LOVED YOU & ALWAYS WILL MADIBA!
